Charleston Race Week at Patriots Point

There are four area yacht clubs that provide vital assistance in the operation of Charleston Race Week. Many of the volunteers who help manage the regatta come from these clubs, and along with the rest of the community, they not only provide competitors, but racing equipment (marks, etc.), race committee boats, safety boats and much more. Each of the four clubs has an active sailing program, with the majority of them focusing on serving younger sailors.

Carolina Yacht Club
This is the oldest yacht club in Charleston and is situated on East Bay with a compelling view of the Charleston Harbor. Summer races and a number of other regular CORA events are started and finished from their docks.

Charleston Yacht Club
Located in the City Marina on the Ashley River, ChYC lends its lift to Race Week for boats under 30 feet and under 5000 pounds. Its docks have been improved this year. See the terms of use on the logistics page.

Hobcaw Yacht Club
Located in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, the clubs’ waterfront lies on the eastern bank of the Wando River just upstream of the confluence of the Wando and Cooper Rivers feeding into the Charleston Harbor. See details on using their launch ramp on the logistics page.

The club is currently undergoing significant dock rework this year but continues its roles as competitors, race officials, volunteers and others.
